The "Wushantou Reservoir Floating Solar PV System Project" is a solar power project launched by Chianan Irrigation Association in conjunction with the Taiwan government's green energy policy. The project, which has a total capacity of 13.7 MW, is expected to generate 17 million kWh of electricity per year and save 8906 tons of carbon. The floating system has two important features: it incorporates Scotra (South Korea) equipment and patented technology to fulfill water quality standards and Solaredge (Israel) inverter with an optimizer that may reduce the output voltage to 1V while the plant is not in operation or during normal maintenance, which improves personnel and site safety. At the same time, the MPPT function maximizes the power generation series.
The 69kV substation began construction on January 28, 2021, while the 23kV connecting station began construction on July 1, 2021. Due to epidemic situation, the equipment delivery, construction of the floating system, and module assembly started in December 2021. The 69 kV EHV equipment was integrated into the system on January 13, 2022, and metered to reach grid connection on May 23, 2022.
